Covid-19 Statement

Updated: Aug 4, 2020

Dear members and friends,

We have been monitoring the situation with COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and how this will affect club activities.

In today’s press conference the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson said "now is the time for everyone to stop non-essential contact with others and to stop all unnecessary travel”.

This has clear implications for our activities, and I would like to explain how we are responding.

Club Activities

All club activities will be cancelled indefinitely. This includes our Tuesday night paceline / chaingang, Wednesday and Thursday Social rides and all weekend social rides from Adel Sports & Social Centre.

This will also be extended to our Thursday night training and coaching session at The Brownlee Centre.

We are aware that our members Facebook group are open communication tools between individuals. We are aware that people may use this to organise their own activities.

We ask that no-one organises 'same time, same place' activities from AS&SC.

We ask that if government advice changes and activities are prohibited rather than only being discouraged, that the group is not used to organise anything against government advice. We will however not be policing this.

AGM

We will no longer be holding a physical meeting for the AGM. We will communicate as and when we have details for how we will conduct the key business of the AGM.

Club Events

All official club events are to be cancelled in full until further notice to ensure that we are following the latest government advice. This is a regrettable decision, but we have no choice to ensure the safety and wellbeing of not only competitiors, but event volunteers and those who are not connected to the event but allow us to use their facilities.

This will include the following:

  • albaRosa CC Winter Series 4 – 22nd March 2020.

  • albaRosa CC Day at the Races – 19th April 2020.

All events will be refunded in full in due course, please bear with us.

We will look to further government advice later in the year to make a call on club events going forward. This will remain our effective guidance until 30th April 2020 and we will update later.

A personal message

We appreciate that this is a very worrying time for many people in our community, and at times like this people look to their friends in ARCC for support. We are sorry that we have no choice but to cancel our activities for the foreseeable future, however we are not stopping the support that we as a community offer to each other.

We look forward to when we can ride together again as a club.

Phil Makinson

Chair – albaRosa CC
