ALBA ROSA Youth Race Series

What better way to start the weekend off than with some Friday night youth racing on a balmy Spring evening as the swallows chase the insects floating on the breeze? Every 2 weeks, swapping with adult racing there's been action a plenty so far in 2 out of the 5 races. the swallows are waiting for some slightly better weather so we've been relying on the Amazonian efforts to keep us entertained.

Any youth who races in our colours is part of our race team at the Primo level. We've seen increasing numbers of them turning up with smiles on their faces and a determination in their legs.

On evening 1 Ethan & George duked it out with a 2nd & 4th while Ben took time out of his running to have a go at his first race taking 8th in u14s. Our Development team got some great results too sticking with the fast pack for an increasing amount of time. Marco & Esben rode strongly for 7th & 9th. It's not easy for these 2 levels when you are up against already high level Yorkshire and national level racers.

The Performance racers got some great results with a win from Sophia in u12. A large mixed u14 & u16 field made for a busy and fats race. A win (Isaac) & 7th (Rhys) in the u14 race with Isaac chasing down an u16 break. A crash took down 3 racers in the u16s including Max but Sam came through to take 2nd and Charlie 6th. All round awesome. Full results here. U14/u16 photos here

2nd race was even busier with new faces smiling on the circuit and the podium. The youngest racers got the best weather and the best smiles. Oliver was overjoyed with his 2nd; Sofia nailed her usual win keeping down a strong challenge from Henry; Sophia followed suit with a win in the u12s; Marco showed increasing fitness and determination out of the saddle; Callum and Joshua raced well in the pack in the u12s while Luca dished it out off the front & took 2nd; Lucy smashed round with u16s for a 3rd in U14s; Esben brushed aside a mechanical to race strongly; Isaac, Sam, Max & Charlie dished it out in the front pack taking 1st, 1st, 2nd and 6th while Rhys came through for a fine 3rd. Full results to follow.

One to watch for the future is Isaac. Dominating u12s last year including an international stage race win, now in his 1st year u14 with 57 national points already, he's not only winning races, he's taking on, chasing down and beating established u16 racers. Mighty impressive. Brother Rhys is not far behind on 40 points, the club's top 2 points scorers. All backed up by a mum and dad support team. Know any top class twin racers anyone?
